Are You Dream-busting Or Dream-building?

The thing that will dry up your dreams faster than anything is a fourteen-letter word. You can take the "teen" off and think of it as a four-letter word.
It certainly causes as much grief as most four-letter words. The word is...

Procrastination.

Oh we laugh about it as if it's a minor fault, one that causes some late fines at the library or putting off that diet one more day, but it's really much more harmful than that.

Perhaps you remember from high school or college English this poem by famous American poet, novelist, columnist and playwright Langston Hughes.

What happens to a dream deferred?

Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore--
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over--
like a syrupy sweet?

Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.

Or does it explode?

- Langston Hughes (1902-1967)

Whatever happens to a dream deferred is not a good thing. And what happens to us when we forget about our dreams?

We're not being true to ourselves, we're not living our lives to the fullest, and the very least - we and others who would benefit are missing out.

The "dream deferred" Hughes wrote about during the Harlem Renaissance of the 1920's may have been as much about society destroying dreams as an inside job, but for most people today, the deferment of dreams comes from procrastination, and procrastination comes from fear. Now there's a real four-letter word for you that is another dream destroyer.

Do you have dreams you've put off?

I know I did. I was caught on the treadmill of a job that seemed to consume me. Then my wife, Ann, began asking questions. Questions like...

If we continue doing what we are doing, where we will be a year from now? 5 years now? In our 60's?

The images were frightening.

We made up our minds that we would no longer put off our dreams.
It meant working at our new network marketing business after putting in 8 hours or more at our jobs, but before we knew it we no longer
needed the jobs, and...

We had built the largest international business in the history of the company we were with before our current company. That means many, many other people, benefited.

After only 3 years with our current company, we have more than 48,000 team members in more than 25 countries. Our income has, in these 3 years, surpassed what we made with the other company, which is/was a great company.

Where will you be next year if continue doing what you are doing now?

Where will you be 5 years from now if you continue doing what you are doing now?

Where will you be when you're 65 (or older if you've already hit there) if you continue doing what you are doing now?

Are you today where you hoped to be when you dreamt of your future?

Have you deferred your dreams until they are dried up?

Isn't it time to revive them?

I'd like you to do that. Revive your dreams. Imagine how you will feel
when they become reality.

Do you like the feeling?

Are you ready to make some changes?

Because you can't achieve a different outcome by doing the thing.

Napoleon Hill, another great writer and the author of the
eBook I shared with you "Think and Grow Rich" said this about
about the "P" word.

"The principle of concentration is the medium by which
procrastination is overcome. The same principle is the
foundation upon which both self-confidence and self-esteem
are predicated..."

Concentrate, focus on your goals and you've made a start.

You'll be amazed at how fast things can change when you do so.

If you need a vehicle to support your dreams, consider...

"Network marketing has proven itself to be a viable and rewarding source of income, and the challenges could be just right for you."

So Is Content King Or Not??

I love the recent note by friend Doug Firebaugh that discusses the matter that he finds that Content is NOT King..but IMPACT CONTENT is what's relevant and adds value to people.

It's that Impact Content that helps to create the value that people see in YOU as you are branding yourself and showing people your "expertise".

Read this...Impact content IMPACTS the reader in some way, and moves them in some way. The reader sees VALUE in the writing and is willing to send it out because of the impact.....now Doug says; Impact Content is KING. Period....and the rest of it is all FILLER.

OK..here's my personal viewpoint on the subject:
a) It's important that ALL that you do adds value
b) remember that you are writing for the reader...they are the ones you want in your Tribe..they are the ones you want to Give Value to...
c) I always like to think with a "servant's heart"...meaning in all that I do, be it in the Network Mktg Industry, or articles that I write, or books that I write, I always think about my READER...and the more VALUE I can give in what I am doing, the stronger my rapor and relationship will be and with the END GAME being:
1)make a new friend; 2)establish new relationships; 3)being of service and lastly caring and sharing messages, information and knowledge that I may have that I can contribute to others!

Doug says: Writing for the reader will always get virally marketed more, linked to more, read more, searched more, and book marked more. In fact he points out; Why has someone like Chris Brogan gotten out there quicker than most...Impact Content. And LOTS of it. Same for just about every other social media superstar- (of course there are exceptions as always.)

Well friends I'm 1000% in agreement with Doug and I love what Chris Brogan contributes with his blogs and the VALUE he gives in each of his messages and information!

So, CLEARLY, this is about bringing Value to our Tribes and to those folks to whom you are marketing and targeting to....so remember...always have the END GAME in your mind with GIVING VALUE to all and make your Content not just IMPACT CONTENT....but ROCKINGLY VALUABLE CONTENT...and your readership, your relationships and your friends and your TRIBES will Value You more for that!

I'm going to close this with an interesting quote I just read today...and please..TAKE VALUE from this...
"The Bible tells us to love our neighbors, and also to love our enemies; probably because generally they are the same people."

Have a glorious day today!

Having An MLM Attitude of Gratitude

Are you a leader who appreciates and recognizes the members of your team? You do recognize that your success is as a result of your "team" not just your own...right? It's so important to have an attitude of gratitude not only in your heart, but in your actions as well.

I'm often asked about the required skills one needs to be a leader in the MLM industry. Recently a friend shared an amazing story with me about the power of "gratitude and recognition". These are definitely 2 traits that all leaders have and so let me recount this wonderful story.

This great story is about Captain Charles Plumb, who was a graduate from the Naval Academy. After 74 l combat missions over North Vietnam, he was shot down in his plane. Although he parachuted to safety, he was captured and tortured and spent 2,103 horrific days in a small box-like cell.

Surviving the nightmare, Captain Plumb received the Silver Star, Bronze Star, the Legion of Merit and two Purple Hearts. After retuning to the USA, he became a public speaker talking about his wartime experiences.

Charlie and his wife were sitting in a restaurant one day when he was approached by a man from a nearby table, who walked over and said, "You're Plumb! You flew jet fighters in Vietnam from the aircraft carrier Kitty Hawk. You were shot down!" The man said this with sheer excitement in his voice.

Charlie, surprised that he was recognized, replied, "How in the world did you know that?" The man replied, "I packed your parachute." Charlie looked up and was astonished. The man shook his hand, gave a thumbs-up, and said, "I guess it worked!"

Charlie shook the man's hand, and said, "It most certainly did work. If it had not worked, I would not be here today."

That night, Charlie could not sleep thinking about the man. He wondered if he might have seen him and not even said, "Good morning, how are you?" Thinking of the many hours the sailor had spent bending over a long wooden table in the bottom of the ship, carefully folding the silks and weaving the shrouds of each parachute...each time holding the fate of someone he didn't know in his hands.

Charlie began to realize that along with the "physical parachute", he needed mental, emotional and spiritual parachutes. Throughout his long and very painful ordeal, he called upon and needed each of these elements to survive.

So, let me ask a question...as a leader, how many times in the course of your day, week or month, do you not take the opportunity to thank those people in your Team who are "packing your parachute"? So often we're all guilty of forgetting the idea of an attitude of gratitude.

I for one, am so appreciative of everything that everyone else does that I have no interest or desire to do myself, but so appreciate the person doing that particular job or chore that I'm not prepared or able to do... it's just having a sense of gratitude that makes us appreciate everyone around us and the values they bring.

“Those who do not create the future they want must endure the future they get.”

No More Excuses ... YOUR Tribe Needs YOU to Lead them!

David & I and my brother Mark woke up one day last February 08 to a rude awakening when a few unsightly pictures of us showed up on the internet after a national event (Jessica, I know what it feels like Baby!)

We all realized that with David's gourmet cooking, we had all really packed on the pounds ... YUCK ... ok time for change ... got to rally the tribe and set some new ground rules and hold each other accountable. Nothing like a tribal plan & commitment to get the juices flowing...

My intentions were good at the beginning as I led the tribe down the stairs to the gym and David took responsibility for the cooking and setting a new meal plan ... Mark had no choice but to give in to the program ... and we began to see big time results as 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60+ pounds melted away ... a total of 149 pounds between the 3 of us so far!

However, after all the hoopla, I found myself back to procrastinating and rationalizing on all the other things I could be doing early in the morning even though Mark & David held their ground and were becoming global "poster boys" with our program!

I knew I had to come up with "SOMETHING FAST" to make it FUN for me again since I wanted to stay in the game long-term ... what to do?

So I thought "I need a workout partner who would be willing to get up each morning with me … who would show up every day without any whining, bitching or any stupid excuse that would take me off my plan" … so I looked around and found my solution staring up right up in front me! lol ... Aim high & have an awesome day!

The quality of a leader is reflected in the standards they set for themselves..since I believe it..i wrote about it. http://ping.fm/Yy6zI
